Pilot Emil Buge took this air to air shot over the Western Front in 1918.

A personal archive belonging to a hero German pilot of the First World War who fought to bring down the Nazis in the second has been discovered.

Emil Buge flew on 37 sorties against the British on the Western Front, dropping 27 bombs, 128 grenades and firing 9,500 rounds of ammunition.

Despite his heroics in 1918, Buge was imprisoned at a murderous concentration camp by his own country in the Second World War as a political prisoner. He used his position as an inmate clerk to gather evidence of SS atrocities.
