A personal portrait Hitler gave to David Lloyd George during his controversial visit to the Berchtesgaden has emerged for sale.

Lloyd George, the Prime Minister during the First World War against Germany, visited Hitler's home in the Bavarian Alps in 1936.

He met Hitler alone on September 4 at the Berghof and then returned for a tea party the following night where he was presented with this portrait by the Fuhrer.

The 11in by 9in portrait was accompanied by a personal message from Hitler, which translated into English read: "Mister Lloyd George, in kind remembrance of his contribution to my Germany with circumspect presentiment."
