The rugby jersey of a legendary international player who was killed in battle has emerged for sale for £40,000.<br />

Jum Turtill was born in England but emigrated to New Zealand as a child and represented the All Blacks in 1905.<br />
<br />
He then returned to Britain to play rugby league for St Helens before enlisting at the outset of World War One.<br />
<br />
Turtill fought in many of the great offensives on the Western Front and eventually lost his life aged 38 at the Battle of Givenchy in April 1918.
