Valuer Amy Brennan with the 1100 year old headstone.
An extremely rare Anglo-Saxon gravestone dating from the time of Alfred the Great has been discovered propped against a garage wall in Surrey.
The 3ft tall slab once stood on the grave of a 9th century christian Anglo-saxon - despite originally being found in Little Eaton in Derbyshire, an area that would have been ruled by the pagan Viking invaders at the time under 'Danelaw'
The incredibly rare 1100 year old stone is carved with Christian symbols and was found by a sharp eyed auctioneer Guy Swinge hiding among cardboard boxes and garden tools in a garage at a house in Surrey.
Dukes auctioneers are now selling the historic object with a £5000 estimate.
