Legendary film director Orson Welles' personal script for his cult classic Citizen Kane has sold for £30,000 as part of a £100,000 sale of movie memorabilia.

Collectors had feared the annotated document, the third and final revision of the 1941 film, was lost forever because it had not been seen in 74 years.

But they were amazed when it emerged at auction being sold by a consignor who was given it directly by Welles when filming finished.
The 156-page script was snapped up by a private collector for $45,000 - around £30,000 - at the sale held by Profiles in History in Calabasas, California, yesterday (Tues).
