Mantovani barmy! - Superfan puts on his own concert's so he can play with the band.
A retired businessman has spent £500,000 pursuing his passion for a 1950s bandleader and pays to put on a concert every 18 months to celebrate his hero.
Paul Barrett, 70, has spent most of his life following the work of Anglo-Italian violinist and conductor Annunzio Paolo Mantovani and met his music idol several times.
He has spent a fortune buying original instruments from Mantovani's orchestra and paid £50,000 for the 35mm film and rights to recordings of a 1950s American TV series Mantovani did.
He also pays £20,000 for each concert to recreate a note-for-note, musician-for-musician replica of the classic Mantovani Orchestra.
