Never-before-seen images showing how fearless workers risked their lives every day to build the iconic lighthouse at the base of Beachy Head cliffs have been found.
Without a hard hat, hi-vis jacket or harness in sight the images would have any health and safety inspector reaching for their clipboard.
The stomach-churning pictures depict the brave engineers scaling rickety ladders fixed to the sheer 500ft cliffs in East Sussex to reach the building site below 117 years ago.
Others show a group of men hitching a lift in an open-top cable trolley from the cliff top.
The slides are being sold in Cornwall on November 30.
