Sold for £4 million - World record price paid for beautiful Maserati racing car.

This stunning 1955 Maserati 300S has smashed the world record price for the legendary italian sportscar brand after a bidding frenzy at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Powered by a 3 litre, straight six engine Stirling Moss described it as 'one of the easiest, nicest, best balanced racing cars ever made' - this car was raced in America by 'Big' Bill Spear in the 1950's.

The previous record price for a Maserati was £2.25 million.
