Irene's ring was discovered 3 inches under the tiny front garden.
Lucky Irene finds her gold wedding ring...after 30 year wait.
A widow has been reunited with her wedding ring 30 years after she lost it thanks to her metal-detecting son-in-law.
Irene Freeman lost it outside her home in Basingstoke, Hants, in 1985 when she was playing with her nine-year-old daughter Kat.
She didn't realise the 22ct gold band had come off until later in the day and, despite searching for it in the small front garden, Mrs Freeman could not find her beloved possession and gave up hope of ever seeing it again.
But she never forgot about it and jokingly mentioned to her daughter Kat's partner Malcolm Williams he could try finding it when they talked about his metal detecting hobby.
