A homemade diving helmet made by a farmer so he could locate his tractor which fell through ice.
A British couple's lifetime hobby of deep sea diving is set to make them a breathtaking £500,000 when they sell one of the world's finest collection of vintage diving helmets.
Anthony and Yvonne Pardoe amassed over 150 heavyweight copper helmets worn by divers during the early days of underwater excavation.
Weighing about 55lbs, the dome-shaped helmets bolted onto a copper collar of a diving suit and had a hose attached to the rear to provide air supply from the surface.
They are being sold in Devon next month.
