Fancy Living in this Hell Hole??
A stunning woodland paradise with an unfortunate name from a bloody battle fought almost 700 years ago has gone on the market for £650,000.
Hell Hole Cottage and Woodland near Kilburn, Yorkshire, is believed to take its name from the Battle of Byland, fought between Robert the Bruce and King Edward II in 1322.
The picturesque valley saw English soldiers massacred by invading Scottish forces when the hapless king failed to protect his rear ranks and the Scots attacked from part of the hill above Edward's army.
Today there is nothing to indicate the area's dark past, with a beautiful stone and timber character cottage set in 89 acres of woodland, which is being sold by Savills
