Newborn horse packs a punch...

This adorable foal which is rarer than the giant panda and the black rhino is bringing new hope to its critically endangered breed.

Little Lilly-Rose was born at the Dorset Heavy Horse Centre in Verwood, Dorset, earlier this month and is a Suffolk Punch.

The native breed of heavy horse is ranked critically endangered by the UK Rare Breeds Survival Trust and the latest figures show the number of registered breeding mares dropped 45 per cent this year to just 73.

New foals need to be born if the breed is to stand any chance of surviving and staff at the centre hope Lilly-Rose will be able to join the breeding programme when she's older.
