March 16, 1966 Astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and David R. Scott sit with their spacecraft hatches open while awaiting the arrival of the recovery ship, the USS Leonard F. Mason after the successful completion of their Gemini VIII mission.
Space fans have got the chance to own a piece of history - after one of the capsules from the ground-breaking Gemini space missions of the 1960s emerged for sale.
The 9ft capsule was used by NASA to test the design and handling of the spacecraft during the highly dangerous missions, which resulted in the first ever space walks.
The Gemini missions paved the way for putting man on the moon with the Apollo space programme by testing longer space flights and perfecting methods of re-entry and landing.
Experts at Boston saleroom RR Auction where it will go under the hammer are expecting it to fetch upwards of $50,000 - around £35,000
