A cul-de-sac dubbed Britain's most festive street has turned on their annual Christmas dazzling display - 25 years after the tradition started as a bit of friendly rivalry between neighbours.

Nearly all the 50 houses in Runton Road in Poole, Dorset, are lit up at this time of year with flashing bulbs, singing Santas, giant inflatable snowmen and model reindeers, sleighs and trains.

The dazzling display, which was switched on by Miss Dorset, can be seen from half-a-mile away and the electricity board say the local grid 'takes a bit of a hit' when it is turned on every day at dusk.
The suburban street was crammed with more than 400 visitors who flocked from all over the country to see the lights.
