Smooth ride -- For the pice of a new family car only the keenest of riders will be willing to fork out for this bespoke bicycle made entirely from wood. Dubbed the 'Human Bike', every single part of the £14,000 bike has been painstakingly hand-carved from walnut, apart from the handlebars, seat, pedals and tyres. Weighing in at 40lbs the bike is only slightly heavier than a metal-framed equivalent but offers smoother ride thanks to walnut's vibration-absorbing qualities.<br />

Dutch designer Jan Gunneweg spent hundreds of hours slaving away at the drawing board before shaping various parts of the beautiful bike on a lathe. He was inspired to bring riders closer to nature
