A decision by Australia to bar the British from the centenary commemorations of a disastrous First World War battle that both countries blamed each other for has caused outrage. <br />

The families of the British men who died at the Battle of Fromelles have been told they are not invited to a special service which is being organised by the Australian government.<br />

The 1916 offensive involved 20,000 British and Australian troops. It turned into a bloody massacre with over 7,000 Allied casualties.
