The boys at play near their seaside home in the early 1960's.
The real family behind Enid Blyton's iconic book covers has been revealed for the first time thanks to a hidden archive of sketches and family photos.
Mary Gernat, who created the paperback covers for about 100 children's books in the 1960s, would get her young sons to stop mid-play and pose for her while she quickly sketched ideas for books like The Famous Five, the Secret Series, St Clare's and Malory Towers.
Her son Roger How, 58, has now unveiled some of his mother's never-seen-before original sketches and finished book drafts which capture the classic images of childhood adventure he and his brothers helped create.
