P-p-p-please don't make me swim!

Aquaphobic Charlotte makes more splash than a washing machine before exiting the pool as fast as she can.

Charlotte the penguin is giving keepers at a bird attraction a headache - because she is p-p-p-petrified of water.

The young flightless bird is so terrified of getting in to the pool with the rest of her colony that she tries to take off to avoid getting wet.

The aquaphobic king penguin hatched at Birdland Park & Gardens in Bourton-on-the-Water, Glos, and has been hand-reared by head keeper Alistair Keen.

Alistair says 'Unfortunately Charlotte doesnt seem to realise that she's a Penguin...and that penguins spend a lot of their time in water, at the moment she doesn't like getting her feathers wet, or even going under'

It is hoped that following Alistairs lead, Charlotte will slowly become more accustomed to the aquatic side of her life.
