Peter Studzinski, 53, with his dogs Lola and Tom felt 'threatened' during his encounter with a Forestry Commission keeper.
The Forestry Commission has been 'snooping' on mushroom pickers and using 'sinister' stop and search tactics in a controversial crackdown on foraging, it has emerged.
A dossier kept by the government organisation reveals foragers in the New Forest have been spied upon by rangers before being 'interrogated' and having their bags searched.
In some instances, pickers have been asked for their name, address and car registration number.
Anyone found carrying more than 1.5kg of mushrooms has had the excess confiscated and destroyed.
