The bravery medals of a British officer who heroically led his men out of an ambush during the Troubles in Northern Ireland have emerged for sale for £30,000.

Staff Sergeant Mick 'The Rat' Rattigan, of the Green Jackets, was taking part of a foot patrol in a notoriously dangerous area of Belfast when they were set upon by gunmen.
His superior Corporal Ian Morrill, who had been searching for a passer-by, was shot dead and the rest of the section came under heavy fire.
