Staff at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum in Bournemouth prepare for reopening next week after the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
In 1907 husband and wife Merton and Annie Russell-Cotes donated East Cliff Hall and its contents including a fine art collection as a museum to the town of Bournemouth. The couple travelled extensively visiting Australasia, America, India, the Near East, Egypt, the Pacific Islands and Japan, collecting artwork and souvenirs.
After they died the Borough of Bournemouth managed East Cliff Hall before it opened as the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum in 1922.
