The original working lyrics for Sir Elton John's Candle in the Wind have been sold for £70,000.
The famous song that was dedicated to Marilyn Monroe and then later adapted for Princess Diana, was written by British songwriter Bernie Taupin, the Rocketman's key collaborator, in January 1973.

He wrote the words to it in blue and green felt-tip pen and crossed out and re-wrote several lines throughout.
Some of the words that appear on the original music sheet differ to the final lyrics recorded by Sir Elton for his album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road that was released in October 1973.
