A cycle lane which is believed to be one of Britain's widest has been slammed by road users who are bemused by its size.

Despite measuring over half as wide as the adjacent road, cyclists have still been spotted using the carriageway instead of the cycle lane.

The cycle way is a whopping 11ft wide, 2ft wider than the vehicle lane which locals say is frequented by heavy goods and emergency vehicles.
Residents on Wimborne Road West in Wimborne, Dorset, were exasperated when they woke one morning to the 'cycle highway' as it has been dubbed by the local council.
It is part of a major £102 million scheme to make travel more sustainable and reduce congestion across the county but they argue it could have the opposite effect by obstructing traffic.
