An epic new monochrome version of Théodore Géricault’s 'Raft of the Medusa' has gone on display at Messums Wiltshire in Tisbury.
The new rendition by Welsh Artist John Beard is the same size as the 24-foot-long, 1818, original
that hangs in the Louvre in Paris
It's described as 'One of the world’s most harrowing images of human desperation'. It depicts the aftermath of the wreck of the French naval frigate Méduse, which ran aground off the coast of Mauritania, in Africa on 2 July 1816. « less
