Letters that show Florence Nightingale struggled after caring for her own mother before her death have emerged for sale 133 years later.

The 'Lady with the Lamp' and founder of modern nursing wrote about holding her mother Frances while she had some sort of seizure for five hours.

In another letter six months later she tells her friend that she had to take a three-week break after her mother's death but doctors were advising her she needed more time off.
