Elton John's prized piano which he performed over 1,000 concerts on has emerged for sale

Sir Elton John's prized piano which he performed over 1,000 concerts on including John Lennon's final live show has sold for £664,000 following a bidding war. ($915,000)<br />
<br />
The flamboyant superstar had the black Steinway model transported with him wherever he took to the stage between 1972 and 1993.<br />
<br />
It was in situ for his 1974 Madison Square Garden concert when Lennon showed up for a bet and performed three songs, including 'Whatever Gets You Thru the Night'.<br />
<br />
The piano was also used by Queen frontman Freddie Mercury for their 1977 'Day at The Races' tour and Sir Paul McCartney when he played 'Let It Be' at Live Aid in 1985.<br />
<br />
It was sold by a sound engineer with Heritage Auctions, of Dallas, Texas, to fund his divorce.
