An impressive collection of furniture and artworks amassed by British designer Jasper Conran has sold for a massive £6.7m.

Several paintings set new world auction records and the top lot was a 16th century portrait of Anthony Maria Browne, that sold for £742,500.

The collection, which spans four centuries and had been gathered over 30 years, had filled Conran's impressive home at New Wardour Castle in Wiltshire.
But he put the property on the market last August and after downsizing to a smaller home decided to auction most of his treasures.
