An Iraq war hero is selling his £120,000 gallantry medal so he can get on the property ladder.

An Iraq War hero who served 21 years in the army today sold his gallantry medal for £140,000 so he can get on the property ladder.<br />

Warrant Officer Shaun Jardine, who served in the King's Own Scottish Borderers regiment, was awarded the prestigious Conspicuous Gallantry Cross for risking his life by single-handedly storming two enemy positions in 2003.<br />

The 21-year-old soldier, from Dumfries, found himself pinned down with no reinforcements during a patrol near Al Uzayr security base, Maysan Province.
