The original artwork for one of the first comics to ever feature Superman has come to light and is expected to sell for more than £120,000 at Heritage Auctions in Dallas.

The image was sketched by Fred Guardineer for issue 15 of the Action Comics series, published in August 1939.
The books featured a range of characters including magicians, escape artists, and detectives, which were all rotated on the front covers.
Once the illustrations had been sent to the printers they were simply discarded but Fred specifically asked the company if he could this one for his portfolio.
