An ingenious alarm clock made from ear plugs could be the key to domestic bliss in the bedroom - because only the wearer can hear it.

The cunning invention, called Earlarm, promises to put paid to the age-old problem of both bed partners being woken up at the same time even if one person wants a lie in.

It features two noise-cancelling foam ear plugs each boasting tiny speakers that connect to a bedside clock via Bluetooth.

The alarm is set via a mobile phone app and when it goes off it sounds only in the ears of the wearer, waking them and ensuring nocturnal harmony for their partner.
