£300,000 estimate for Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes short story.

This sale is sure to be Elementary my dear Watson...

A signed manuscript of one of Arthur Conan Doyle's early Sherlock Holmes stories is expected to fetch £300,000 at auction.

The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter was published in 1893, the same year the author tried to kill off the world's most famous detective.

The rare 34-page handwritten document is signed by the author and has revisions and the publisher's page count marked throughout.

Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories and four novels about the super sleuth and he named this as one of his 19 favourites from the canon.
The manuscript will be sold in New York on April 11.
