A wooden rocking chair from the White House that was made specially for John F. Kennedy has emerged for sale for £65,000.

The solid oak chair was commissioned by the tragic politician when he was still a senator - and once elected in 1961 he took it with him to Washington.

Following Kennedy's assassination two years later he was succeeded by Lyndon B. Johnson who continued to use the chair.
Prior to his departure from the White House in 1969, President Johnson gifted the chair to George Szabo, a long-standing White House photographer, in thanks for his dedicated service and it has been in his possession ever since.
