The Mistletoe is abundant this year, with crisp white berries although only the best has the green leaves.

Retired policeman Simon Davies is rushed off his feet after branching out into an unlikely new profession - collecting and selling English mistletoe.

After hanging up his bobby's hat the former detective constable now plies his trade harvesting the traditional festive plant from disused apple orchards.

During the short two-month mistletoe season Simon will have to make dozens of trips to orchards surrounding the Worcestershire market town of Tenbury Wells, the historic home of English mistletoe.

Simon's business the English Mistletoe Company sells 5kg boxes of mistletoe for £40 and high profile clients have included luxury handbag company Mulberry, top fashion designer Margaret Howell and cancer charity Maggie's.
