RSPB warden Mark Singleton gets to grips with the feisty Mangolista's...
The RSPB has called in a crack-ling team of rare breed pigs to return woodland in Dorset to native heath - And the bonus is you can much on the unfortunate animals after they're work is done.
RSPB project leader Mark Singleton has brought in an army of rugged Mangalitsa pigs to completely root through a pine forest scrub in south Dorset, and return it to the native heathland made famous by Thomas Hardy.
Local butcher Jamie Warren owns the hardy Mangolista's, and after they've munched through the bracken, roots and rhizomes he can sell the tasty meat once they're work is done.
The RSPB are trying to protect and enhance the precious heathland to protect the rare birdlife that inhabits the area.
