The car with no name...

An ancient car that has been owned by the same family for so long nobody can remember what make it actually is has been put up for auction by an elderly woman whose grandfather bought it in 1908.

The mystery motor dates back to 1903 but there are no surviving documents to confirm what the make and model of it are and the man who first bought it is long dead.

In the earliest days of motoring there were many different manufacturers that sprang up to try their hand at the new technology, and it appears that this sturdy machine has long outlasted the company that made it.

Despite its dubious origin the vehicle is still expected to sell for £160,000.
