One small step for a bidder, one giant leap for his mechanic...
In the 60's it would have been a top secret part of NASA's $25 billion Apollo space program - but today this prototype Lunar Rover has been discovered languishing in a scrap yard in deepest Alabama.

The vehicle was part of the development program for the Lunar Rover that eventually reached the moon on Apollo 15 in 1972,

But despite becomindg a rusty footnote to space history the spartan vehicle still retains an astronomical £110,000 auction estimate.
