Last Days of the Raj - A fascinating family album from one of the last Viceroy's of India reveal Britain's 'Jewel in the Crown' in all its splendour.<br />
<br />
The family album of Viscount George Goschen has been unearthed after 90 years, and provide's an amazing snapshot of the pomp and pageantry of a wealthy and powerful British family in India in the 1920s and 30's.<br />
<br />
They show the Governor of Madras and his family enjoying a lavish lifestyle of parades, banquets and hunting and horse racing in the last decades of the Raj.<br />
<br />
At the time, Gandhi was organising peasants, farmers and labourers to protest against excessive land-tax and discrimination. <br />
<br />
The album consists of some 300 large photographs. They have remained in the family for 90 years but have now emerged for auction following a house clearance and are tipped to sell for £200.
