Something old, something new...

An innovatively-designed property that combines a 19th century old stone gasworks with a modern steel-clad extension is on the market for £1.59million.

The Gasworks certainly stands out from most Cotswold chocolate box cottages in the quintessential village of Upper Slaughter, with the bold extension covered in rusty CorTen steel creating a striking contrast to the 140-year-old stonework.
It was designed by celebrated firm Chris Dyson Architects as a writer's retreat and took 20 months to complete, but is now for sale through The Modern House.
